Newbie: simple substitution question

Hi all

I posted this question on the MS Frontpage forum but didn't get any
responses - hopefully here!

I've got a simple DB with 2 fields - one has placenames from a series of
maps, and the second a one-letter code for the specific map on which the
placename occurs.

What I'm trying to achieve is to be able to display selected user requested
data on a web page, using MS Frontpage's database functionality.
Example: user is looking for which map(s) contain placename XYZ.
Seems very simple, but I don't know how and where to substitute the
one-letter code for the actual map name in the results.

Any help appreciated :)

Hi,

Highly depends of the context. If there is a single map where the place name
can appear, a DLookup ?

DLookup("secondFieldNameHere", "tableNameHere", "firstFieldNameHere= 'New
York' " )

would return the code in the second field listed against the only occurrence
of New York in the first field (or the first occurrence, if it appears many
times).

Hoping it may help,
