News reader in Office 2003

I have just installed office 2003 Pro. Everything was import over from
Office XP without a hitch.

I'm running WinXP Pro and the problem I'm having is in Outlook. I followed
the directions on how to read News Groups from within OL 2003. It worked
grate the first time. But when OL 2003 was shut down and restarted the News
option in Go was not there and no longer available in customize Standard
Tool bar.

Any idea how to get/fix this option? I would like to have the ability to
read news groups from OL 2003.

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, click the "Don't ask me again" box and then click the No button.
You may need to reset the menu or toolbar using Tools, customize.

Also, note that you are actually using Outlook Express to read news and
could create a desktop shortcut that opens OE in news-only mode. Add
/newsonly or /outnews to the OE command line to use it in news-only mode.

Thanks Diane,

This seems to have done the trick. I knew about OE being the news reader and
about the switches. I wanted to get back the news option in OL cause it does
it for you.

Again thanks
