Yes it does. When you open Entourage, click on Mail and below you'll see a
window with a list of folders, which includes Newsgroups.
Select/double-click the Newsgroups folder and a list of newsgroups will
appear from which you can subscribe.

Make sure that you set-up your account: Tools > Accounts > News tab >
Newsgroups, and then set-up your account.

I'm only now starting to use Entourage to access newsgroups, but I'm not yet
sure how I like it as a newsreader. Anyways, hope this helps!

Entourage does include *basic* news reader functions. If you want more
news reader specific options (i.e. combine and decode, following
threads, easy kill filters) then you will want to look elsewhere. If
that is what you want, then I suggest going to versiontracker.com and
doing a search in the Mac OS X area for "news reader" and giving them
all a shot, and see which one best suits your needs.

All Entourage by itself will do is read, reply, set up rules (just like
your email), and thread.

I have been sold on Unison. See the link in my signature.

Actually, it's the "Microsoft News Server" icon which you need to click on.
The list of its newsgroups now appears in the main window. You can filter on
".mac", for example, in the little text box at top right, to see just the
Mac newsgroups. Command-click to select the newsgroups you're interested in,
then click Subscribe button. Those newsgroups now appear in the Folder list
on the left, under the MS news server.
Make sure that you set-up your account: Tools > Accounts > News tab >
Newsgroups, and then set-up your account.

Microsoft News Server is already set up by default, you don't need to add it
(unless you previously deleted it). It shows only MS newsgroups, of course,
and does not need a password. It's by far the fastest way to access these
newsgroups. To access non-Microsoft newsgroups, ask your ISP for the
settings for their news server. Then create a new news account with those
settings here:

Tools > Accounts > News tab > New

and you'll find another News Server icon in your folder list. Repeat the
process as for MS newsgroups to subscribe to other, non-MS, newsgroups. (Use
the MS server for MS newsgroups, even if your ISP has them too, because it's
much faster.)

PLEASE always state which version of Entourage you are using - 2001 or X.
It's often impossible to answer your questions otherwise.

I didn't realize that there was a difference and I always wondered why there
was a separate newsgroup folder for Microsoft. Now I know.

But, I'm still having trouble trying to figure out the best way of keeping
track of posts and replies.

For now, sort by Subject. The subjects will be listed in alphabetical order,
and within them the posts will be chronological. You can go to View/Unread
Only (cmd-shift-O) if you want to see only unread posts.

In Entourage 2004 there will be more threading options. Or if you want more
sophisticated options, take the advice others have given and get a dedicated
newsreader (e.g. MT Newswatcher). Personally, I'm happy enough with
Entourage and appreciate not having to use more apps, but others feel
differently.

I was afraid that it wouldn't get much better than that. :)

Same here. Even though I'm not totally happy with it, it's adequate enough
to meet my modest needs.

Thanks very much for your help!
