Newsreader default file save path

I have outlook 2002. In 2000, the default "save as" or save paths (for the
last saved attachments and images during the current session) were always
maintained. In the current version, I have to browse the network path to
save attachments and images for every save operation, even during the same
session. A "last used" path is not maintained by outlook.

Is there any way to control this behavior, or is there a corrupted file
somewhere in windows or office?
