Newsreader using Outlook folders?

S

Stephen Speicher

By default Outlook launches Outlook Express as my newsreader.
Unfortunately
this will not allow me to share folders between newsgroups and email.
The
best I have been able to do is export from Outlook Express and
distribute
amongst the Outlook folders. Is there an alternative newsreader which
will
allow me to directly share access of folders with Outlook?

None that we are aware of. You can use newsgator to pull RSS feeds
from newsgroups into outlook but you can't post from outlook.

When I said "newsreader" and "newsgroups" I was referring to
USENET newsgroups. Did you think otherwise, or does
newsgator actually allow reading from USENET newsgroups,
such as the one we are now posting on?

After further poking around on the newsgator website, indeed
I see that they recently announced support for Usenet newsgroups.
Thanks for pointing this out to me. I'll look into this further to see
if they have available the newsgroups which I regularly read. They
also mention something about offline posting, so I have some renewed
hope in having both mail and newsreader services in one place in
Outlook.

AFAIK, it pulls in any newsgroup you have access too. The last I knew, you
couldn't post - when they mention offline posting, it might be regarding
posting to blogs. News posting is planned for a future update (i.e., as soon
as they get it working :))
