"Next message" doesn't stay on the screen

I updated my W-98 the other day and since then something peculiar has
happened. When I read messages on newsgroup (OE 6), I used to be able to
click on 'next' and up popped the next message, but not so any longer. It
goes down to the bottom bar and I have to re-click on it to be able to read.
It's annoying. What can I do to get it to stay on the screen?
