We have been down this path before....
Why is it that your scripts have to be used for such simple features
that SHOULD be offered and easily available in MS Office 2004.
I am sure your scripts are good, but the reason for my witing to this
discussion list is to ask why MS Office 2004 does not allow me to
export my address book and contacts.
I would much prefer to use another software than to band-aid MS Office
2004? with a script.
I remember you! (From 4 years ago, I think.) You're the guy who refused to
use my Office for Office scripts (and they were free) in Office 2001 to do
mail merges where Word 2001 wasn't up to it. You kept sending in the same
complaints under different names to increase the number of "people" asking
for Word to be fixed. Well, it was always going to be improved, and was in
Word X, where "Query" button could select whatever. In the meantime, you
shot yourself in the foot by refusing to use the scripts.
Same thing here. I'm sure MS will fill the gap themselves and put me out of
business some day or other. But what in God's names have you got against
AppleScript? You'd rather use "another software" than use scripts? What sort
of nonsense is this? Do you think scripts aren't "real software" or
something?
Oh well. I remember you well enough to know there's no point using logic
with you. You have some sort of religious prejudice against AppleScript, as
if it weren't a programming language. Entourage (and now in 2004 also Word,
Excel and PowerPoint) implement an excellent access to their object models
via AppleScript. In act it's the only way Entourage allows access. Word,
Excel and PowerPoint also implement Visual Basic - which in 2004 is exactly
the same as the AppleScript access. I suppose you don't like VBA either. Ah
well. Go use "another software" then.
