No Alerts Sounds in Entourage X

I purchased Office '08 and none of the alert sounds work. I've even attempted creating my own by following forum instructions but nothing works. Does anyone have a solution or has heard from MS about an update to correct this? Thanks.

Please search the forum before asking your question in case it has
already been asked and answered. This one has been beaten to death.

To answer your question...

Microsoft has acknowledged the problem but has released no details of a
fix. They have posted on their Mac Mojo blog
<http://www.officeformac.com/blog> that they are planning to release an
Office 12.0.1 updater around March 11 but did not say if that includes
the fix you're after.

No one has devised a satisfactory workaround that mimics the way alerts
work.
