No details available on a PCSView Error

I am getting the following error in the event log on my
Project Server.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Project Server Tracing Eventlog
Provider
Event Category: None
Event ID: 2
Date: 22/08/2003
Time: 10:53:27
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: CCG-PNW2KTEST
Description:
Component: PCSViews
File: ViewsDrop.cls
Line: -1
Error Number: 0x8000401a
Description: Automation error
The server process could not be started because the
configured identity is incorrect. Check the username and
password.

All was running fine for about 3 weeks after the install -
the corresponding fault is occuring on the server.
* When entering data from Project Professional 2002 all
data is saved and updated but the Web views are not being
updated.
No changes have been done on either of the servers (either
the IIS/Project server or the SQL server).

I tried both searching the Microsoft site and the web
(Altavista) for PCSView and can find no references to this
word - I am completely stumped, can ANYONE help or shed
some light on this!!!!

Thanks in advance,
Johnathan

this error indicates a problem with the COM+ identity(s) used w/ MS Project
Server components.

to troubleshoot:

make sure the service account password is not expired (thats if you have
password expiry settings applied to that service account).

you might need to rerun the PSCOMPlus tool and reconfigure the service
accounts again after you verify that passwords and working fine and the
account does have all the required group membership as per the installation
guides.

Mutaz,

I am a little confused about your reply - when I looked at
your comments I went and had a look at the PSCOMPlus tool
and ran. This refers to the SharePoint Team Services and
the Analysis Services (OLAP), we are not using either of
these services. The configuration is very basic 2 servers
SQL 2000 server holding the databases/projects and a
Project Server with IIS running on it.

As mentioned before it has been working all OK for a
number of weeks and I am not sure if someone did a system
change without documenting it or if something else has
happened.

Regards,

Johnathan

Jonathan:

Check the security settings of the ViewDrop folder. Make sure that everyone,
including the IUSR account has full control. Are you seeing only one error
in the application log?
