No "find..." function for public folder documents

Hi,

When I view a post in a public folder on our Exchange 2003 server
with Entourage, I cannot use the Command-F find function to search the
content of any post. If I try Edit->Find... nothing happens either.

Has anyone seen this issue and maybe have a workaround? We have
shared lists of info that I currently have to search by copying it to
a local text file, a total pain.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I'm on Entourage 2008, but I
believe I still had the issue in 2004.

Hi Ben!

Messages in Public Folders are similar to newsgroup messages. Until you
actually view them then they aren't cached to Entourage. Until they're
in the cache then you can't search for them.

You can add one or more folders to your Favorites folder (Entourage
2004) or Subscribed Public Folders to keep them cached and synchronized
with the folder on the public folder server. Then you should be able to
search them.

You can add one or more folders to your Favorites folder (Entourage
2004) or Subscribed Public Folders to keep them cached and synchronized
with the folder on the public folder server. Then you should be able to
search them.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the suggestions, they led to the discovery of the real
issue... The folders with the unsearchable posts are under my
Subscribed folders, and even after a "Synchronize Now", still no Find
possible. After some thinking, I went to a few posts that I don't
need to search for text in, and lo and behold, Find works as
expected. So it seems the format of the posts is to blame. Long ago
someone formatted the posts we use in HTML with tables (using MS Word
to edit, not sure if that's a contributing factor), and the Find
function doesn't work on any of these table formatted posts.

The workaround for now is just to change the formatting, and maybe
I'll try to re-table-ize with simpler HTML.

Below is an example of one of the posts without the headers, in case
someone is interested.
