No Holidays Appear in Calendar

D

Doug

I have imported holidays into the Entourage calendar, but they do not
appear. I used the "Import" function and all went smoothly. There
were no error messages. But back at the calendar, nothing is there.
When I use the "advanced find" function to remove what might be there
and not show, I can see each attempt to load the holidays. But the
"find" search yields nothing.

What gives, do you think?

Hi everyone,

I second that holidays have disappeared from the calendar (office 2001).
That is only from 2006 onwards.

I presume that the "holiday file" simply includes holidays only up to the
end 2005.

So that leaves with the question: is there an updated "holiday file"
somewhere available?

Thank you

One of you, at least, seemed to be in Entourage 2001. As I recall, the
original Holidays calendar file ran for 5 years or so - probably 2000-2005.
Entourage X only came out a year later so probably used the same file, or
2001-2005. There's a different type of system in Entourage 2004. I don't
think there have been any updates for 2001, so you're probably out of luck.
I'm not even sure if Office 2001 is still being fully supported, although I
think it is still listed, so it should be.

For Entourage X, make sure you have updated all the way to 10.1.6. If they
haven't updated the Holidays file there, they ought to have, for sure. You'd
think they'd have updated it in one of the updates along the way. If you
haven't yet, update to 10.1.6 and try installing the Holidays you want. If
they still only take you to 2005, I guess you can only hope that an update
file will appear.

I wouldn't count on it for Entourage 2001, though. There have been no
updates for years.

The first person who wrote (Doug) did not say what version of Entourage he's
in, nor if he sees holidays if he looks back to 2004 or 2005. Do you, Doug>
And what version are you using? This could be a different issue.

Hi everyone,

It seems that there is solution to the outdated holiday file issue. Actually
this file contains holidays only up to 2005.

Apart for waiting for MS to update it, there is another fix at:
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/cross_platform/
Look at the ''Import holidays from Outlook on a PC into Entourage" part.

I have tried this for Office 2001 with a Palm Desktop holiday file and works
just fine. Tools needed are Excel, BBedit and perhaps Word. You don't really
need a resource editor because BBedit saves in the appropriate type and
creator.

Hope this helps!

Sorry for the slow response, Paul. I am using Entourage X 10.1.1.
Holidays cease to appear in this version of Entourage beginning January
2006.

I will update my version to 10.1.6, then look to do what Dwarf
suggests. I don't know what BBedit is, and I can't write code or even
scripts. So there may be some further questions!
