No "leave message on server" option

Hello,

I'm running Entourage 2004, connected to my company's Exchange Server.
For some reason, when I go to
Tools->Accounts->Edit(myaccount)->Options, there is no "leave message
on server" option in the dialog box. Thus Entourage is downloading my
emails to my Mac and deleting the emails from the server. I need the
emails to remain on the server so I can access my email from my other
machine.

Thank you.

It's always the case with Exchange... Mails are always kept on the
server and Entourage is merely caching the data locally to make it
faster to access.

??? There is no reason why they should be deleted from the server. It
only happens if you create a rule moving the e-mails to a local folder
(in which case, they are moved locally and deleted fromt he server). If
it is indeed the case for you, check your rules. Rebuilding the database
often confuses the rules and re-sets the destination folders. Make sure
everything is the way it should there.

Unless Entourage is connecting to the Exchange server via POP3, which is
unlikely. Then you'd be able to go into Tools --> Accounts and modify
your POP3 account to leave messages on the server there.

Otherwise, Corentin is correct and the option to leave messages on the
Exchange server isn't necessary. They're always on the server until you
delete them in Entourage.

Sure , but then it's not really an Exchange account ;-)

Potato. Potato. <g>

But the OP never said this was an Exchange account -- only that it was
on an Exchange server. However, from his description, I can now see it
couldn't have been a POP3 account BUT it could still be an IMAP account,
albeit still unlikely.

Exchange 2003 _can_ do POP3.

:-D
Sure Barry, but the original post mentioned:
"there is no "leave message on server" option in the dialog box."

So it's not a POP3 account :)
Now since "ellersmtc2" didn't post back since the original post... I'm
not sure we'll ever know what was really happening :-\
