No Login screen when using Windows 2000

I have an Access97 database with a secure workgroup.
Everyone has been running WindowsNT 4.0 until recently.
One user has had an OS upgrade to Windows2000 and suddenly
he can open the db without logging in. It logs him on as
admin without requesting the user name or password.
Anyone familier with this?

It was never secured properly to begin with. Just because you used a secure
workgroup before, doesn't mean it was secured. Probably you could have
joined the standard system.mdw on the old computer and opened your mdb with
no login.

I can't say whether it was 'secured properly' in the first
place in all respects and I could easily be mistaken that
it has to do with Windows 2000 but no one has been able to
access the database using another workgroup prior to this.

It was just a guess on my part. As I said "I could easily
be mistaken". Unfortunately this reply helps me no more
than your previous one. Do you actually have any helpful
advice to offer? Or do you just like to look down your
nose at people who aren't MVP's?

You didn't ask a specific question, other than 'is any one familiar with
this'. I thought you were looking for an explanation. I merely pointed out
that it wasn't secure.

Sorry you took it that way. What are you looking for? Do you want to
secure it? If so try following the step by step at
www.jmwild.com/AccessSecurity.htm

It's critical to follow every step. Skipping even one can result in a mdb
that isn't secure.
