I am using Entourage X for Mac, version 10.1.4.
I use it (*not* Google) to subscribe to two alt.support.X newsgroups.
One of them acts normally, and each time I go to it I receive the new
messages.
The other one, however, does not give me new messages. I'm trying to
determine whether the problem is in Entourage, or my ISP, or something
else. Here is how it behaves.
In View I have checked "unread messages only." In that mode there are
no messages.
When I uncheck that, then the display at the very bottom of the frame
says 265 items displayed, and It looks to be accurate; there are a lot
of messages there. However, the most recent one is dated 10/17/04. I
can cross check by using my browser and looking at this same group in
Google Groups, and there have been lots of messages posted since that
date.
At other times I look at the folders view (in my setup that is the
column to the left of the messages where folders are displayed) and
the folder for the problem newsgroup will be bold and it will display
in parentheses the number of unread messages. Yet when I select that
folder, the number at the bottom left of the margin indicates that
none are displayed, *and* I can see no messages displayed. In that
case I can go to Message: Mark all as read, and presto, those
invisibile messages must have been changed because the label on the
folder now says tere are no unread messages.
BTW, when I look at the other newsgroup in Entourage, there are new
messages on a regular basis.
Can anyone suggest where to look for a solution?
