no rules set but all mails go to delete folder directly, PLS HELP!

About 1 month ago I noticed all my new mails that shown up in the INBOX
(Folders on my computer) are duplicated in the DELETED MESSAGES on the
corresponding MAC account that was added as an IMAP account, instead of also
showing up in the INBOX. This happens to mine and my husband's accounts,
both on the desktop and the laptop we own. We didn't have any rules set at
all. Please, does anyone know why?

You might have inadvertently created a mailing list rule. Go to
Tools>Mailing List Manager and see if there are any rules in there that are
responsible for this behaviour. Disable or delete them, and your problem
should go away.

It is very easy to create a mailing list rule in Entourage by accident:
simply select a message that Entourage has identified as "junk" and mark is
as "not junk", and you'll be given a couple of options, one of which is to
create a mailing list rule.

Is this a .mac account? Do you have it set for both POP and IMAP. Did you
check under IMAP tab in Rules window? Do you perhaps have a MAILING LIST
MANAGER (MLM) rule that was set accidentally that is moving messages?

There are 3 different kind of rules in Entourage:

Mailing List Manager (MLM)
Junk Mail Filter
Rules (custom rules you create)

They run in this order. The custom rules also run in the order they are
listed. (top runs first)

Use the MLM for all lists. Use rules for the remainder. Try to use
categories instead of individual addresses when possible. When an address is
added assign a category then it will automatically be acted on by the rule.

1) POP Rules act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in the Inbox (On My
Computer), NOT when it arrives in any other folder. Once it's moved to
another folder it won't be seen by rules.

2) IMAP Rules are meant to act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in
the IMAP INBOX, not when moved to another IMAP folder.

3) Exchange Rules act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in the
Exchange Inbox.

See "Using Rules with Entourage" for help and examples:

Also if the .Mac is also set up as a POP, then the account settings has
options for leaving messages on the server and automatically deleting when
either computer user decides to delete a message or after a preset amount of
days since the message was created. It is not recommended to leave messages
on the server without option for deletion in some manner, because the
message limit for a particular account may be reached and the flow of
messages may stop coming in. For a single user, I recommend not checking the
box for leaving messages on the server. Of course everybody should do a
backup of important messages.
Also, there may be web options in the .Mac account to delete messages after
a certain time period.
