No sound from CD

Re: V 2003

In normal view, I right-clicked on the CD icon and selected play sound, but
I heard nothing even though the audio CD played fine outside PPT using media
player. I have two CD drives on my desktop (F: and G:). Do you think the
problem is a result of me putting the CD in G: instead of F:? I can't put my
CD in F: because ......

Question: Is there a way to tell PPT to look at G: specifically? If not,
how can I get around this? How to hide F: from PPT? Change something under
control panel?

Appreciate advice.

PPT does look for the "first" CD drive -- the one with the first letter. So
it's looking at your F drive. IIRC, to change that, you'd have to recable
them internally, Epinn. I don't know of any other way to force PPT to look
at the other CD drive.

I seem to recall Sonia saying that just renaming the drives wouldn't work,
though. Hm....

I have to clarify. I rated Steve's post helpful because of the last
sentence. I never tried renaming the drives.

If it's the one with the first letter, you should be able to change that in
(rightclick) My Computer, Manage, Storage, Disk Manager.

Rightclick the device whose letter you want to change and assign a new letter.
If you're trying to swap, say, D and E, you'll have to assign D a higher letter
... z maybe, then make E --> D and finally Z --> E.

If it goes for the first *physical* drive ... time to pop the lid.

I didn't even think about that helpful/answered the question thing, Epinn.
No worries -- I was just wondering aloud if that would really work is all!
(I was kind of hoping you'd come back and say, "Works great!" <g>)
