No sound/No video when inserting movie clips in PPT 2003

I inserted a movie clip and got no sound. I changed the file extensions (not
sure if correctly) and played around with the program I am using (Cinematize)
and basically have tried everything I have read. Now I can get sound but no
movie with the latest attempt. I installed trial of OFCMedia and it ran all
night saying "Processing Please wait". I have been unable to upgrade my
video card as suggested. The makers (Nvidia) are no help at all; refer me to
OEM. OEM refer me to Nvidia. Nvidia says unisntall the old version but then
of course there is nothing to update. I am on a deadline and as a beginner I
am at a loss of what to do or the knowledge to do anything even mildly
technical.

Ok, lets see if we can sort this out. With your editing software, can you
save the file as an uncompressed AVI? If so do it and then allow PFCmedia
to process the video. I suspect what is happening here is your editing app
is using a standard codec in a non-standard way and it is confusing both the
Media Player and PFCMedia.

Let me know how this works and if you still have problems holler back.

There are seemingly thousands of ways to save these extracted files. The
settings section is daunting to me, a beginner. One of the settings I need
to decide on is Decoding. My options are Decode to Quicktime, Elementary
Stream, and MPEG-2 Program Stream... With the QT setting I have more
options, the other two gray out my Decoding Mode options.

Hey I kept playing around with things and got it to work using MPEG
Streams... I was able to use PFCMedia to insert it into PPT and it works well
- EXCEPT - it is a bit choppy or jumpy at times, seemingly random. Any ideas?

If at all possible, you really want to save the file in the uncompressed
format. Saving it to Mpeg and then running PFCMedia to recompress it is a
bit like taking a photocopy of a photocopy. The results are less than
desired.

Uncompressed didn't pass the PFC Media test or insert into PPT... there were
also several ways that saved the video file and audio file separately. How
does that work?

Lets start over. What is the original source of the video? What software
are you using?

I am extracting a video clip from It's a Wonderful Life. I use Decrypter (to
decrypt) and then Cinematize (to extract the clip). (I would happily change
from Coinematize to something else that is easy - it's just one I found that
was rated highly - any suggestions?)

Ummm, It's a Wonderful Life is a copyrighted work. Assuming you are taking
it from a DVD, PowerPoint as well as PFCMedia will refuse to allow the
insertion of DRM (Digital Rights Management) material. Sorry, I don't think
I can be of help here.
