nonexistant TIF pictures when I insert them

I'm having a ton of problems inserting some TIF files in presentations. They
just show up as the white dot outlines for the perimeter of the picture, but
there's no picture inside the dots and when I click anywhere on the screen it
disappears. When I save the same picture as a JPEG, it works fine.

Resizing doesn't do anything (original file sizes are 2M) and I've updated
the program. What's also confusing is that some of the other TIF files I
scanned at the same time using the same settings DO work.
