Not Connected Message

Mark Geiser

I have seen a number of posts on this subject and have the problem
myself.

I have a machine that has entourage x working just fine, but when I
installed entourage 2004 it just comes up 'Not Connected' next to the
account and does nothing. I know the system is setup fine because
entourage X works just fine for that user on the same machine.

Even if I take out the password, enturage never asks for it, which
makes me think its stuck in offline mode (even though its not!) and
will not connect.

Anybody got any ideas ? I have succesfully converted other machines
without problem. I have also removed all traces of the product and
re-installed, still with no avail..

HHHEEELLLLPPPPP !!!!!

Is this an Exchange account - or what type of account?

I've seen that once on a Mac and I found a workaround: launch Entourage
pressing the alt key to launch the Database Utility app. Then you should
perform a database rebuild. This forces Entourage to re-downlaod all
IMAP and Exchange mail. Hopefully, it will fix your problem.

OK tried that but still nothing, the chap is currently using entourage
X on it at the moment OK. I know a complete rebuild will do the job,
but would really love to find the answer in case I get it again.

And yes, its an Exchange account coming from Exchange 2000 Enterprise
server.

Anymore things to try !?!?!

Up to date ?? I've seen problems here on server that had not been fully
updated.

Beside the rebuild, not really... You can still use a port sniffing
application to monitor traffic to the server to make sure the
application is communicating properly with it (in the Terminal: tcpflow,
tcpdump or a GUI app like Interarchy).
