Notepad message attachments

Help,

My E-mails are now coming in with the same message text also included in a Notepad attachment. Why is this happening?? If a friend sends a message, "hello," there is also a Notepad icon at the bottom left and when I open that it also contains the message, "Hello." How can I stop this from happening.
