Notes in calendar

I want to leave notes in a past-date calendar item. How can this be
done. When I open a past date item I cannot enter anything.

You should be able to add notes to any saved calendar event, past date or
not. It sounds like you need to do an Advanced Rebuild of your database -
hold down Option key at launch and choose Advanced.

I launched Entourage with Option down.
I then bought up a past date item and could not enter a comment in the
large space at the bottom of the window of that item.
