notes master slide image outline box disappears

When I try to resize the notes master slide image to make it bigger the
left side of the outline box disappears (I deleted and punted back to
the original small size default image).

How to I make a large slide image with an enclosing box to fully
utilize the 8 1/2 by 11 potrait-oriented paper which I use to create
printed hand-outs for the students?

I thought it might be a print setup margins issue but I have no idea
how to modify this for notes pages. I looked in the page setup dialog
but it has choices for slides and notes but only one width setting.

I'm not sure what you mean by "left side of the outline box disappears." Do
you mean part of the textbox then disappears when you print?

What if you resize the notes master slide image, go to View/Normal, and then
go back to View/Master/Notes Master? (Wondering if it's just a display
thing.)
