Notification when an email has been read or trashed

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to set up Entourage like Outlook and be
able to see if someone has read or trashed an email?

Thanks in advance

I am also very interested in this issue. Do you use Exchange or IMAP?

You can set custom headers (under Options in Accounts) to ask for the return
and read receipts, but Entourage tends to "hide" the replies, or at least it
used to. Basically if you even opened your mailbox in OWA or Outlook, you'd
see all these return receipts most of which you never saw in Entourage.

I've not tried it since SR2 came out, SR2 seems to display most of the
Exchange info messages than it used to under SR1 (things like public folder
conflict notifications are now visible in Entourage)

If you're using IMAP then it's possible then that Entourage won't hide the
replies then. (I'm going to test this with SR2 and Exchange after I send
this, to see if replies still get hidden 85% of the time)

All you have to do is Tools->Accounts

Then click on the Options tab, and add the header/value pair:

Disposition-Notification-To <your email address>

And that's it. You've requested a return receipt.

Be aware that this will ask for a receipt on every message you send, so if
you don't want that behaviour, create an additional account to "send as
requesting receipt"

Also remember that simply requesting a receipt does not mean you'll be sent
one!
