Notifications problems after importing 2001 data to 2004 (11.2.3)

I just upgraded brought in my 2001database to 2004 (11.2.3). The
notifications feature is now buggy -- a chiime sounds and a big white
bar appears down the left side of my Cinema display, with no text in
it. The icon in my dock says there are 813 notifications; I have a
feeling this has something to do with it. Is there anyway to delete the
old notifications that are showing up?

Sorry to bother everyone -- I read through old posts and deleted all my
old calender entrees and that took care of the problem.
