Numbers showing up after address

We are running Exchange, Server, and Outlook 2003. When sending an email,
there are 3 people that when you type in their name it shows numbers after
it. The email still reaches them, but I have no clue what the numbers are
and why its happening. Any idea? One of the accounts was migrated from
Lotus Notes, the other two are just contacts within Active Directory.
