O2K Send/Receive Progress, Can't Shut off

I read the posting/solution send/receive dialog box - won't go away
Outlook XP by Brandon S
Oct 7 2002, 7:52 pm. I have the identical situation, but the fix did
not work. As I 'speak' to you in this post Outlook is having its
way...

Any help with this matter would be appreciated.
