How does a sender ask the recipient to acknowledge receit of an e-mail?
Help Menu seems to indicate a Digital Signature is necessary - is this so?

In the Compose window, before you click Send, click View>Options and check
one or more of the "Request a receipt" boxes. This will send a receipt
request. However, there is nothing that _requires_ the recipient to
acknowledge that request.

No. I don't see a reference to "Digital Signature" in relation to a receipt
at all.

With outlook 2003, the recipient can setup his mailbox not
to allow the read response to be submitted (for all mail),
so doing that isn't always gonna work anymore. Some users
consider it a privacy issue - i.e. "why should you be told
when i read your mail"

Yup. That's just what I said.

I'm one.
