I thought WORD has OCR capabilities? Do I need to purchase 3rd party
software to scan and OCR images? If so, suggestions on make- available on
line? thanks

Redcent versions of Word have rudimentary OCR facilities - Check Microsoft
Office Tools > Microsoft Document Imaging, but for best results you need a
third party application. Of those I have tried, Abbyy Finereader is out and
away the best.
