Odd behavior

Entourage has been working very smoothly, until just the past week or
so, when it has suddenly stopped deleting mail from the mail list. I
click "Delete" -- and it just stays there, though it is now marked as
"read". Except sometimes it doesn't stay, but disappears into the
deleted folder, where it belongs. I can find no characteristics that
would explain why some go and some stay. It seems to be random. In
addition, when I label something as Junk, it also stays in the list,
though with a "junk" symbol attached, and light type. It does not
make the program unusable, but it is a pain. Has anyone experienced
this? (I've done all of the recent updates.)

This could be a subtle sign of database corruption.

1. Make a duplicate of your current Identity (named Main by default) the
rebuild makes a duplicate, but if things go bad this can also be corrupted
leaving you with nothing to work with. So better safe than sorry.

2. Open Entourage with Option key held down and rebuild the database.

3. After you are satisfied with the rebuild you can throw away the extra
duplicates.

Old files are named:

Entourage 2004: Main [Backed up date and time will be shown] e.g. Main
[Backed up 1-21-2007 13.35]

Entourage X: "Old Database Cache" and "Old Database"

Entourage 2001: "Old Database Cache", "Old Database", and "Old Messages." In
addition, Database (Rebuild) Cache is retained.

Your advice worked perfectly. Thanks a lot!
I really appreciate the feedback. One more symptom of database corruption I
can put in my list. Now I will know what to suggest when this is reported
again.
