OEM version or Retail version ?

Hi all,

I have seen a lot of license questions here and thought this KB article
may be able to clear a few of these questions

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832672

Its a table that helps you find out WHICH version of Office you have via
you product key (Please dont post it !) but use this for your reference.

Cheers

It can tell you if you have a retail or OEM version but not *which* of
those.

Value Edition
0 Enterprise
1 Retail/OEM
2 Trial

The easiest way is to look at your computer's receipt. If it says Office
2003, it's OEM. If you have a receipt for just the software, it's probably
retail.

Or look at Help->About to see if your PID has OEM as one of its components.

That's the easiest way. Anything that keeps you from messing with the
registry is a good thing.
