Ofc 97 won't install w/ WinXP...

I have my original CD's for Ofc 97 Small Business Edition
and Ofc 2000 Professional, the latter with SR-1 and SR-2.
After building a new PC (Intel mb & 2.4BGHz processor)
and installing the WinXP Home Edition OS, Ofc 97 will not
install. There is no response when clicking on any of the
autorun-menu buttons, like for installing Word, for
example. There is also no response when trying
to 'Start>Run' the CD's setup.exe application for
installing a particular Office product. Other older and
new programs have installed ok. Any helpful input will be
appreciated.

Hi Cari, thanks for responding.

I have DVD-ROM and CD-RW drives and use the DVD-ROM for
CD installations and general purposes. I installed WinXP
OS and other applications prior to the present
difficulty. The Ofc 97 CD will not respond in either
drive. I just installed another application without
incident. However, I note that when trying to install a
couple of older applications, they will not respond or
install, much like the Ofc 97 problem.

Eric, from my prior posting:
"The Ofc 97 CD will not respond in either drive."

Does anyone have experience with an Ofc 97 installation
CD not responding or installing? My Ofc 2000 Pro is an
upgrade which of course needs Ofc 97 to first be
installed. Thanks for any helpful input.
