Off by an Hour

I just discovered a very odd problem on a staff members computer. When
they make an appointment March 11, 2007 or later, the time displayed in
the calendar is one hour later than in the event detail window. For
example and appointment made for 9am on March 15, 2007 it will show up
on the calendar as 10am March 15, 2007. When I open up the event to
check it, it says 9am.

If the event is for 9am on March 10, 2007, it will show up as 9am.

For more info, this calendar is on an exchange server. This is
happening on all users computers.

All computers are running OS 10.4.8; some computers are running Office
11.2.5 and others are running 11.3. Same problem either way.

Any ideas?

This is due to a recent change in the rules for DST next year - Apple have
already issued a fix for the OS, MS will probably issue a patch before too
long.

Here's an earlier exchange on this very issue... Note that the change in DST
(enacted in August 2005) wasn't addressed in this week's update to MS
Office.

OK. Glad to know that it's being addressed, but I must point out that this
change was enacted into law on August 8, 2005 (Energy Policy Act of 2005),
which is around 4 or 5 MS Office updates ago.

Yes, there has been a major change in when DST will start in 2007 in the US.
The change was only decided (by an Act of Congress, I think) several months
ago, long after Office 2004 shipped. I think that Apple may have already
updated the OS to accommodate the change, but Entourage has not yet done so.
MacBU knows about it, though, and are working on a change. You can expect an
update sometime - probably somewhere around the beginning of 2007 if not
before.
