office 2000 profesional and office 2003 standard trial on same mac

does anyone have an idea what would cause publisher to not load when
installing a standalone copy of office 2000 professional on a new machine
with office 2003 standard trial version.

I did use the custom install and chose all modules to be installed, but
publisher did not install. Is the trial version controlling access to what
is available?

I am not ready to purchase the upgrade just yet, and have lots of things on
my external drive in publisher from office 2000 pro. any ideas?

Yes. If you want to run more than one version of Office, they need to be
installed in the order that they were released. Office 2003 was there first
(even if it is a trial version).
