Hi, bajabob,

Office 2000 is notorious for not providing the Windows Installer good
information for clear messages. Are you inserting the original Office CD
when prompted for the SP-2 CD? Is that the original CD you used to install
Office in the first place?

At what point does it ask you for the Service Pack CD? During installation?
Does installation complete successfully?

Could you please quote the error message you get when it fails? There may
be a number associated with it.

Windows files must be installed for your installation to proceed.

Insert Windows xp Home Edition service pack 2 now.

I have the choice of retry, more information, or cancel when I select cancel
I get

error1933
The Windows installer services cannot update one or more protected Windows
Files.

Hi, bajabob,

Do you have a Windows XP Home Edition CD? That's what it's asking for; not
an Office Service Pack CD. Have you tried inserting the Windows CD?

If you don't have one, and your system came pre-installed, you'll need to
contact the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to get a CD or support for
updates.
