Office 2003 without skins?

F

Frank Schauffer

Hello,

I've set my Windows XP to the "classical" interface because I couldn't stand
Luna anymore. Now I wonder if it is possible to disable the skins in Office
2003 as well? I'd like to have the same default grey context-menus and
toolbars I have in the Windows Explorer.

Maybe there's a registry tweak?

Thanks for your help,

Frank

Change your Windows System color theme.

Thanks, Mike. I've tried that before. The effect is that the skins in Office
2003 change their color but I want to remove them completely. By "skins" I
mean the gradiant toolbars and the gradiant bar on the left side of the
context menu. Also the context menu in Office 2003 remains in the Win XP
standard white, though I deactivated the "designs" service.

The Office 2003 interface seems to be largely independent from the system
settings. I think if I want to remove the Office 2003 skins it must be done
in The Office program itself.

Do you have any idea if this is possible?

I have another completely different question: I posted to this newsgroup
through my regular server and don't think the posting will be shown on the
Microsoft servers. If I use the MS web interface to the newsgroups I can
only post to the German groups because I don't get to the English Microsoft
site (automatically changes to German site). Do you know how I can post to
the english Microsoft newsgroups? There is much more traffic than in the
German ones. Is it possible to access a MS newsserver though my newsclient?

Best regards - Frank

Hi Frank,

On your second topic -
The news server for the MS newsgroups is news://msnews.microsoft.com

For the web interface see if choosing the English group listing from
this page helps.
http://communities2.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx

On your first topic, you're correct that some of the 'look' of
Office 2003 is built into the program files.
