OFFICE 2007 beta installation

M

Michael BYRD

My first installation attempt failed for some reason.
During the second attempt, the installation program reported an error and
asked to roll back changes: fine.
But it kept displaying the error message well after the problem was solved
and until the end of the installation process.
Besides, there is no indication about the installation progress and some
users may consider it a program failure and abort installation.

Hi Michael,

What was the error message you're seeing that is persisting and when/where are you seeing it?

What Windows version/build are you installing on and is this an upgrade over older Office or a fresh install?

Were you successful in installing in a subsequent attempt, after a PC restart?

Hi Bob,

Unfortunately I didn't make a print screen.

The message was something like "An unknown error has occurred during a
previous attempt. Install has to roll back changes"
It appeared a few seconds after the installer window was displayed.
I'm using Win XP home 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Nu 2600.
It is an upgrade over Office 2003.

Besides this small glitch, everything ran successfully.

Congratulations for the new impressive Word interface !

I had some problems with the installation too, first i had a message saying
the following applications should be closed before continuing the install
with a long path name in the message box. I assumed as Media player was the
only application i was running that maybe it was that, so i closed it and
checked my processes to make sure all other programs where closed. i clicked
retry and it carried on...
but then it said it again and yet the message box was BLANK. i found it
quite ammusing in a way and just clicked retry yet it came up another two
times i made sure their was absolutely no programs running and kept clicking
retry but in the end it CRASHED the installation and i had to close and start
again, this time i went on custom installation instead of upgrade and removed
some things i didnt want any way so that i was left with only:
Access
Word
Excel
PowerPoint
Publisher
and this time the installation completed.

I also agree with the nice new interface! it was a bit of a shock at first
but it only took a few seconds to get used to!
