Office 2007 GUI problems (strange)

Hello:

I have a copy of Office 2007 Enterprise and I've installed it twice, along
with the latest service pack, and I still have this problem. Take a look at
this url: http://home.comcast.net/~cbrose1/office.jpg
Notice how the interface is flat and the icons are mixed: Some are higher
bit and others are low bit resolution. Has anyone else had this problem? I
don't know if it's a problem with the install CD (bad build)? You can't get
anyone on the phone or IM from Microsoft unless you fork over cash first...

Thanks,

rosewj

I have the same problem! I downloaded the trial version of Office Small
Business and installed it. worked fine for a day them the background and
icons turned strange. I uninstalled redownloaded and installed, same thing!
tried to contact ms support but would not except my product id. next did a
xp repair and still same problem. went to the computer local computer store
and was told this is a common problem, the only way is to reintall windows
xp, then they suggested NOT to use office 2007 products! some trial product!

any help from ms would be appreciated.
thank you

Hi W.J.,

Have you recently installed any new software or utilities, or used remote access help? If so, what was installed please?

There are several things you can check in the Windows control panel.

A. Display: Color settings should be set higher than '256'.
Check to see what Theme settings you have.

B. Accessibility: Display High Contrast should be unchecked.

C. System: Hardware=>Device Manager:
Display Driver - If SMS Remote Control Agent is present
disable it then restart your PC.

Also, do you have dual monitors setup for this computer and if so if you disconnect one does this still occur? You will sometimes
get different graphics settings on the two. In some cases updating the graphics card driver from the card makers website will help.

thanks for the reply Bob,
unchecking Accessibility: Display High Contrast took care of the problem.
Hard to believe our local store could not figure this out.

thanks again for the help

Fixed it! My old PC has a built-in video card and I had to disable that (in
favor of my ATI card). Once I rebooted, everything looked great.

Thanks,
