Office 2007 long installs

I've customized an Office 2007 Pro Plus install with the .msp and modifying
the config.xml file to make a silent install. On my inital rollout of 300+
machines I had about 10 that the install took hours (5+) to run but there's
nothing in the verbose log that indicates why the long install time. The
rest of the machines took less than 45 minutes to run.

Has anybody else run into this problem or have any suggestions on things to
check?

Can you explain how you did this? I am trying to get my silent install
working without much luck. I have a GP with a startup script for the
computer configuration. The Bat file reads: \\server\it\office2007\setup.exe
and is located in the correct location within the sysvol folder.

I have created the .MSP file and it's located in the
\\server\it\office2007\updates\ folder. I have heard of people modifing the
XML file but I'm not positive I need to.

I am trying to install Office 2007 Std.

Hi Kelli,

MSP patch files in Office setup aren't supported if you're using GPO deployment. Both types of installation are covered in the
Office 2007 resource kit at http://microsoft.com/office/ork
If you're using a GPO deployment then the customizations basically take place in the product config.xml files and in the scripting.
