Office 2208 won't update

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

I've been trying to get Office to update since the first one appeared.
I can get the automatic updater app to download the updates, but when I try to select a disc to install the update, I get an error message that says no update-able version of the software exists on this disc.

But it does. Argh!

I've tried re-installing the app from the installation disc, even to the extent of going into the Application Support folders in the system Library and my Home folder and deleting the Microsoft folders there.

Help!

The Microsoft AutoUpdater must first be updated to see the updates.

The Office 2008 MAU is now hidden away. It should be v 2.2.

/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0

Download Microsoft AutoUpdate for Mac 2.1.1
Then you will need the following updaters.

12.1.0 SP1
12.1.3
12.1.4

For help with the error no version found, #6 on this page should be the
easiest:

Thanks Diane, that did help.

One thing though: When I checked my version of MS AutoUpdater, it read 2.1.1 already. I downloaded it again & reinstalled, then tried the updates in the order you suggested, which worked.

The installer takes a loooong time examining additioal volumes on my computer; I wonder if it's looking at the Parallels disc images...

Also, this website can't remember my credentals, so rather than troubleshoot *that* too, or create a new account, I'm posting this anonymously...

Thanks again!

If you check now, the MAU should show v 2.2.

It's best to quit Parallels when updating. If you quit ALL applications when
updating Office or any application that uses an updater you will have fewer
troubles. Even ejecting external drives has been recommended.

The Mactopia Forum is just an interface to the Entourage newsgroup. I highly
suggest you use Entourage to access. Not only is it like using email, you
can download old messages and use Spotlight to search.
