Office 2K Pro installation problem

Hi

I have been trying to install Office 2000 after
reinstalling Win 98 SE, but the installation procedure
locks up after about half way through. Explorer also
locks up too and the only way I seem to be able to get out
of it, is to reboot and then I get the following message
after attempting to install: 'Microsoft Office 2000
installation was not completed successfully.
Click 'Continue' to resume installation, or click 'Cancel'
to exit set up.

I have tried installing on a seperate drive, but the
problem still appears.

I have 256 RAM and 10Gb and 40GB drives.

Windows has been installed on both drives and scan disk
has also been run also.

An attempt has been made to install upon installation of
Windows before any other programs are installed and 3
different versions of Win 98SE have been used. Two
different versions of Office have also been used.

Can you please give me so guidance and ... once the
message : 'Microsoft Office 2000 installation was not
completed successfully. Click 'Continue' to resume
installation, or click 'Cancel' to exit set up' appears,
how can I start afresh.
