Office setup

[confused of britain]

I had to reboot my computer to factory settings. After
having done this, I installed Office 2000 from my disk. It
won't recognise the 25 digit code and therefore I cannot
use it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and no go. I
have tried to install the version of word that came with
the computer and entered the 25 digit code that is on the
side of the tower and it doesn't recognise that either.
Can anyone help. I tried to get help from microsoft, but
it's so arcane as to be impossible.

The code for O2K is on the jewel case, usually an orange sticker. Ensure you
dont get the charactors confused.
Likewise the Word disk, though I would suspect this is actually MS Works
