Office SR1-Premium?

Dave

I reinstalled Office XP Professional (Ver 2002) and tried to download SP3.
During the download, I was prompted for the Office SR1-Premium CD. I used
the XP Professional CD and the installation failed. What happened??

I was reinstalling XP Professional because I've been having problems with
Outlook. It starts to open then the computer freezes and I have to reboot to
get it to work.

Hi, Dave,

See if some of Office 2000 is still installed. Try using that CD when
prompted.

You can check the Windows Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs applet to see
what Office programs are still installed. You may still have FrontPage,
Publisher or something else from a previous version, and that CD is required
for updating, also.

Thanks Susan. I'll look for any 'leftover' Office programs. I've also
noticed that when I restart the computer and open Outlook, I get a message
saying that it hadn't shut down correctly and can be opened in the "Safe
Mode'. I did that and was able to export my contacts list and archive emails
I didn't want to lose.
When I close then reopen Outlook, I get the opening screen for Office
Professional Outlook and a second window that appears to be an attempt to
transfer my old Outlook settings to the new Outlook. The computer just
freezes at that point and when I start the Task Manager, it doesn't show any
running applications and I have to reboot to get it going again.

I can't use Outlook but I'm able to send/receive emails using Yahoo.

Does this info give you any more ideas?

Thanks again

Dave

For the mail problem, try creating a new mail profile under control
panel->mail icon-.>show profiles->new. Do not copy your old one, it is
corrupt.
