I am getting spam emails that are disguised as categorized email.
Example: spam email comes through color coded blue and with a "friends"
category tag. Is this happenig to anyone else and how are the spammers
doing it?

Spammers cannot set a category for their e-mails. Categories are stored
locally, and they are not part of the e-mail message per se. You must have
either a rule that applies your "Friends" category to these spam mails, or
you must accidentally have created a contact based on the spammer's e-mail
address and categorised it as "Friends", though that would be surprising.
See if any of these options applies, and if that's not the case, post back.

It's also possible (and happening, in my setup) that spammers are using
e-mail addresses belonging to you and/or your friends as the "From" address
for their mailings.
