Office XP End User License problem

M

Martin Sachs

I have been using Office XP 2002 (with all three service packs) for nearly
two years. I accepted the end-user license agreement when I installed Office
on my WindowsXP machine. All of a sudden today, it started asking me to
accept the end user license agreement every time I open an Office program
even though the opening panel for each program shows that I have a license. I
can't think of anything that I did in the past few days that might have
caused the problem.

Does anyone know what is going on?

I'm sorry, Mary, but that is not true, or at least not true in WindowsXP Pro.
Perhaps you have the same problem that I have. As I said, I accepted the end
user license agreement two years ago and have never been bothered by the
license window until a couple of days ago. Each program, when it opens
displays an introductory panel which states "The product is licensed to
Martin Sachs". Now it still displays that panel and then asks me to agree
with the license.Something happened since November 17 (the last time I used
Word before it started asking for me to accept the license agreement again).

Well, my problem disappeared as mysteriously as it appeared. Nov. 17-21, it
asked me to accept the license agreement every time I opened an office
program even though all the programs "know" that I accepted the license
agreement 2 years ago when I installed Office 2002. Today, the Office
programs don't ask me to accept the license agreement. Can anyone explain
this behavior ?????????

I have exactly the same problem and inferring from my experience I assume
that whenever I download and install an upgrade to my Office XP my EULA
acceptance is reset.

The problem doesn't disappear until after I have "accepted" again on all
components of my Office XP (Access, Excel and Word in my case).

Sometimes I have had to repeat this process several times.

Quite embarrassing and I should wish for something to be done about it.

Thanks, Val. I needed that. I appreciate your giving me the name of that
chip. I never knew what to call it (that is printable in a public forum). I
am old enough to remember when computers always did what you wanted them to
do, always did it in the same way, always came out with the same result, and
were known as productivity enhancers. Maybe the vacuum tubes weren't as
sensitive to the phase of the moon.

Marty

If you have Windows XP you can buy Office XP!
if you just want Word then buy Works (Word is generally included - read the
box)
