office XP losing characters when printing

Hello

We are using office XP. Sometimes when printing to a HP or Canon printer
from Excel only some of the fonts are printed. These are standard windows
font like Arial. I was wondering what can cause this? I tried to update
printer drivers to the latest version but that didn't help.

Is this a Office problem or printer driver problem or both? This only
happens with MS office XP and especially in Excel.
