Office XP showing wrong Rev!

I just installed Office XP on my Windows 2000 laptop. I then installed SP1, ten the SP2
patch.

However, "Help > About" in any Office program says "SP3", even though it's really
"SP2"!!!

Before I even consider the SP3 patch, I want to understand this behavior. What gives?
