Offline global address book

Entourage help claims you can work offline, composing new messages and
replying to other messages.
My problem is when working offline; I have no access to my company's
global address book.
I cannot find any additional information on it through help or in the
account/preference settings.
Tiger 10.4.7/Office X 2004/11.2.5 update. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi John:

This is correct, you cannot access the GAL while offline. Entourage
does not cache the GAL and cannot provide those addresses to you
without network access. Entourage DOES cache your personal Exchange
address books (contact folders) and any public folders of contacts set
as favorites.

One workaround: turn on the "Display a list of recently used addresses"
preference in the Compose pane of Preferences. This will cache e-mail
addresses from recently received and sent messages for you to reuse.

2nd workaround: while connected, copy your frequent correspondents to
your address book. You can add GAL addresses to the local address book
by selecting them and clicking "Add to Address Book" from the Contacts
"All Users" item under your Exchange account listing.
