Okay I have a dilema, or maybe I am just confused.

My SSI includes only work with .shtml pages.
However, the Front Page search extensions only seem to work when part of an
..html page.
Am I right or am I missing something?
I need the .shtml for a sidebar menu, so I am kind of committed to that.
Every time I try to do the search it gives me an error message about Front
Page extenions not supported. If I change the file extension to .html, it
searches fine, but of course I lose my sidebar menu.

The extensions will only work with .htm(l) files, not with .shtm files.

Consider using a FrontPage include page for the menu instead of SSI, or a
third party search program.
