OL 2003 / Hotmail synch error

In an effort to fix an earlier problem (looks like i succeeded) i
deleted my profile, made a new one, imported the old pst file and added
the mailaccounts again.
All seems to be well except for my hotmail account. It reports the
following error:


Task 'Hotmail: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error
(0x80004005) : 'Outlook's request to the server failed.
The server responded ''. '

MSN messenger and the web interface has no problem handling hotmail.
