OL 2003 System Hang

WXP Pro

I get system hang while typing new e-mail message and
send/receive receives a message. Word is e-mail editor, OL
Inbox folder is visible. System is *really* hung...
network activity stops. Won't know until in office whether
it responds to ping as this happens with VPN active.

Any ideas??
I *suspect* this is window manager problem but ...
